Adding names to Monograms...

Many of my samples display names stitched with one of my monogram designs. Often, those who are new to machine embroidery ask me how to achieve this look. Here are some easy to follow instructions:

  1. First, you need embroidery software that will allow you to 'merge', 'edit', or 'combine' designs. (Each lower case letter is an embroidery file).
  2. Open the main monogram design that you wish to work with and save it using another name so as to preserve your original file.
  3. Open the lower case letters one at a time that you need to spell the name you desire.
  4. Position each letter and line up the name where you want it to be.
  5. Save the whole design as one design and send to your machine and stitch.

This process may seem a little daunting at first, but it will get easier with time. You can achieve super cute results with not only monograms, but individually stitched names, too. Most of my monogram design sets include lower case letters to spell names - You can check the design's 'Product Description' tab to be sure that they are included.

Happy Monogramming!
