Monogrammed Pencil Pouch

IMG_9406 IMG_9401

Today's quick stitch project makes me smile! I am constantly tucking my pencil, pen and, highlighter into my planner, Bible, journal, and notebooks only to close each one, pick it up and have my pencils and pens slip out and fall to the ground. I tried keeping them all in a snack size Ziploc bag for a while... not so glamorous or fun, but functional. This week I decided, enough! So, I stitched this little cutie to keep them all together and ready to use...No more losing my fav highlighters:)

This is an easy, fast project! Pick one of your remnants in a fabric you love and a matching 7 inch zipper. Cut two rectangles of fabric 3 inches by 9 inches and one rectangle that is 6 inches by 9 inches. Fold each in half lengthwise and press.

Pick a favorite embroidery design by Joyful Stitches and stitch on a square of denim fabric. I selected the "K" design from Classic Scallop Mini Monogram Set - It is available here: http://www.joyfulstitches.net/classic-scallop-mini-monogram-set/.

Trim the denim to fit the folded 6x9 fabric. Stitch along the upper and lower edges. Add trim to cover your stitching. IMG_9387

Stitch the to narrow strips onto the zipper with the folded edge next to the teeth.

Place the piece with zipper and the piece with the embroidery right sides together and stitch all the way around. Unzip the zipper and turn the pouch right side out. Use a tool to poke the corners.

Fill with your pen, pencil, and highlighter and zip. Voilà! Pencil Pouch Happiness:)
